The day before we had seen the cat at the clinic. Her owners had brought her in requesting travel documents as they were leaving the island but had left it too late.
She was found the following evening on a beach in Polis by four young men who noticed an object in the shallows of the water. They went to investigate and found a cat carrier weighed down by four bricks on the base of the carrier with this beautiful girl on top of them. Waves were washing over the carrier. She was completely soaked, covered in sand and shivering from the cold.
Someone had driven all the way out to Polis with her in a carrier and deliberately placed bricks into the carrier to weigh it down knowing that the current would pull the carrier out to sea where it would sink leaving the cat to drown.
The young men called us, it was early evening and our staff at our clinic in Paphos waited for them to arrive. She was immediately checked over, dried and slowly warmed to bring up her body temperature. Thankfully she has made a full recovery and now lives a safe and happy life with us at the shelter.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the four young men who saved her life that day.
