Animal Rescue

Animal Rescue Cyprus provides a FREE island-wide rescue service to collect animals who have been found dumped, abused and neglected.

All animals that we rescue will first be seen by our Veterinary Clinic. People who bring in rescued or unwanted animals will not be charged for our Veterinary services if they agree to sign the animal into our care. The Charity will then decide on the best treatment and care and will take full responsibility for looking after the animal.

The clinic also provides private medical care for pets and the owners will be charged for the services and care that their pet needs.

Emergency medical care

Once safely recovered they are taken to our rescue centre in Paphos where they are quickly assessed and given emergency medical care. Often rescues will involve other emergency services who have been called out to attend. Once assessed they will then begin a period of rehabilitation where their needs and care will be our priority and wherever possible we will to re-home them. Whilst waiting for a home they will spend their time in our shelter where they will receive the best medical, physical and emotional care.

NO KILL policy

We operate a policy of No Kill but in our daily work we see a lot of suffering and pain, in many cases unnecessary and provoked by irresponsible people. Sometimes, the animals come in so late and so deep in their pain and suffering that the only, and kindest, thing left to do is to put them to sleep. The most difficult decision of our work is never taken lightly and is the full responsibility of the vet and only after having weighed all the pros and cons in relation to the patient.

Protocols to protect the animal

For every animal that is rescued there is a strict protocol to protect the well being of the animal and ensure that the appropriate procedures are carried out and the relevant authorities and people are correctly notified.

Contain the animal before calling us

Before you call our rescue service, please make sure that the animal is contained (dogs put in an enclosed area or on a lead, cats in a box etc.). Covering the whole island we do not have the human, financial and time resource to go out and have to find the animal so your help is greatly appreciated.
